One of the biggest arguements affecting Transgendered Folk are do we and Gays have a choice? Were we sent from the Dark side to torment the Christian Right? Because they would have the world and the government believe such nonsense. Why? Because they would have to tolerate us and give us medical and legal help.

Its far easier to call us immoral then to give up the control they are trying to exert over us. Proponents aginst gays and Transsexual argue that there is no proof that we do not have a lifestyle choice.

In 1954 when two cases of segregation involving blacks were combined "Brown Vs the Board of Education" and "Briggs vs Elliot 81 year old lawyer John Davis argued "if one race be inferior socially to the other, the Constitution of the United States cannot put them on the same plane." Various scientific studies were brought forth in an attempt to show thatblacks were inferior to whites. Today we know this arguement to be nonsense.

There is not a lot of research about Transsexuals and Gays specifically but there are studies. One involves the premise that genes are involved and it is hereditary, and another involves Brain size and neurons in Transsexuals. Of course the Bible thumpers tend to avoid these studies as inconclusive so they can ignore the research and claim absense of proof. Notice however that they don't call for more studies. They don't want them because they are
scared of the possible outcome. That's why there are no government grants about this subject. Imagine the uproar if equal rights meant exactly that.

A Sex Difference in the Human Brain and its Relation to Transsexuality This study shows:

"Transsexuals have the strong feeling, often from childhood onwards, of having been born the wrong sex. The possible psychogenic or biological etiology of transsexuality has been the subject of debate for many years [1,2]. Here we show that the volume of the central subdivision of the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis (BSTc), a brain area that is essential for sexual behaviour [3,4], is larger in men than in women. A female-sized BSTc was found in male-to-female transsexuals. The size of the BSTc was not influenced by sex hormones in adulthood and was independent of sexual orientation. Our study is the first to show a female brain structure in genetically male transsexuals and supports the hypothesis that gender identity develops as a result of an interaction between the developing brain and sex hormones [5,6]."

The Transgendered Brain:

"In their 1989 book, Brain Sex: The Real Difference Between Men and Women, Anne Moir and David Jessel go into considerable detail regarding the development of male and female brain patterns and support their findings with evidence from extensive biological and sociological research. Their book concentrates on the difference between male and female brain structures and the effects of these differences. The differences while small can be very significant. While this book does not go into significant detail directly concerning transgenderism, it does explain how persons with male bodies (male genitalia) can have significantly female minds (and vice versa) and how this 'opposite sex' element can vary in extent"

Transsexuals always feel their brains and thinking don't match their bodies. Thousands of us feel the same way so there's got to be some reason for it. Choosing how we think just doesn't make any sense. Female to Males (FTM) tend to think like men and Male to Females (MTF) tend to think like women. Who would choose this.

Obviously there is something that causes this. And what data there is seems to suggest its physical in nature. That means we don't choose to be Transsexual or Gay. No matter what new research may show, its not likely the Christian Right is ever going to change its mind. Besides if they didn't have us to bash they might have to listen to their own book (Bible) and show a little love and compassion. Oh the Horror.
