(IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) I recently had injected silicone removed from my breast and repaced with saline implants
Thise was a long and painful process
This was a year and half process
much of that time i was given vicodin
This started July 2008 and i had my final sugery March 2009
I am still taking vicodin and can not seem to stop
I tell myself as i run out, i'm done , but after day or with out them , i feel awful
when i first took them ,granted i did experience a slight euphoria but now i only feel a 2 minute buzz than nauesea. I only take like 3 a day, my addict thinking (ya know)
I want to stop but i am afraid
I work and go to school and well respected in my community so i don't share this w/ anyone
Can some one please give me some suggestions
I have come so far to let this destroy me
thanks

Hi Diva, sorry to hear your difficulty in coming off the pain medication. My first advice would be to seek professional/medical assistance in withdrawing this medication. I am not a doctor, but it seems to me that if you are going from three pills a day to nothing, that would be very hard to do. You could try reducing it just by a quarter of a pill a day, say for a week. Once your body adjusts to that, drop it another quarter of a pill for a week, and so on. This would take a lot longer but you would be far more likely to be successful in the long run, I would think. Good luck!

Diva.......
Honey....again (above me here) has the right idea....

I do know how you feel though....In 1986 I had both of my hips replaced and I got a morphine shot every 4 hours for a week and a half....
When they cut me loose I really wanted MORE of that and had no way to get any...It was a very strong drug to come off of..and I was dangerously close to going illeagal.....
Thankfully I had wonderful support and got past it...
But it doesn't take much Vicoden to get hooked....
You can beat this, Girlfriend....we'll all help you here ...keep posting ......OK?

LOVE & SUPPORT!

Diva the best thing to so is keep writing about your feelings not necessarily here at Laura's but in your own journal....that way you will see how unnecessary the Pills are,,,you can reflect and see how much stronger you are than the meds you are taking.....and how little they help you out or even make you feel good...
So write darling write.....

Good suggestions, everybody. I will say that, as a former heroin addict (the needles, the hooking, the whole nine yards), the more you surrender to opiates the more control they get over you. Get away from them while it's only pills and you haven't started crossing lines. Those lines can be very hard to redraw once you've crossed them.
